From today, Shoreditch is officially a Children’s Republic with its own manifesto and embassy building entirely conceived and run by children. The Children’s Republic of Shoreditch is a new venture by the Ministry of Stories, co-founded by author Nick Hornby and inspired by Dave Eggers’ 826 Valencia Pirate Supply Store. The Embassy (159 Hoxton St) is open every Saturday until 11th August between 10am – 4pm for family activities including writing, drawing, spy missions and more.

“The Ministry of Stories has always aimed to challenge the traditional ways that children interact with education. The Children’s Republic of Shoreditch aims to give young writers further opportunities to explore questions about their identity and locality: what’s it like to be who they are in the place that they live and what might they like to change to make their life better?”
